The history living room sets is not very long as the living room where the living room set gets placed is not an old concept. If you go back just 50 odd years, then there is no living room in any of the house. But in every house there was a hall which was generally the entrance in to the house. People used to place their TV sets in that hall, they also used that hall in dining purpose. Finally people called this room as the living room.

In ancient times, very few people had the access to furniture; only kings and their courtiers had the privilege to use furniture. For a common people, furniture was a distant dream. But as the mankind progressed, persons became capable to buy furniture. But at that time, furniture was selling at nowhere.  

But when the demand grew more and more; some businessmen started manufacturing furniture for commercial purpose. Then, every body got the chance to buy furniture. But then came another problem, scarcity of wood, prime raw material used in furniture making. That problem solved with the discovery of iron and other materials like aluminum; which were used extensively in the making of furniture.

When the living room concept arrived, modern furniture manufacturers made complete living room sets, which generally include a TV rack for keeping the TV but one can place other things like books, trophies and others there. Apart from the rack, there is a sofa set there in a living room set. There could be a dining set one club in a living room set.

Living room sets has been gone through a lot of face lift surgeries to get the version we are seeing now. Now living room sets are coming in different materials like wood, metals and plastics.
